Professional Biography
Sandy Vue is a PhD student in Social and Comparative Analysis in Education at the University of Pittsburgh. She has worked on several research projects and institutional grants. Among the the research assistant positions Vue has assumed on several instituional grants are a number of YMCA-funded projects (2007–2008), the Every Child Every Promise project funded by America’s Promise (2007–2008), a project funded by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities (2008), and a research project funded by Best Buy Children’s Foundation (2008–2009). She has also worked as a career counselor and employment specialist at RESOURCE, Inc., Employment Action Center in Minnesota. Vue has been involved in a variety of other experiences, such as AmeriCorps, the Minnesota State University (MSU) Office of Disability Services, MSU Democracy Matters. Vue has recieved several honors and awards, among which are the Ethnic Studies Achievement Award Scholarship, the Alliss Scholarship, and the Ethnic Studies Timothy Price Leadership Scholarship.
Research Interests & Current Projects
Vue's research focuses on ethnic studies and monority groups. She has recently been involved in a a comparative analysis on White-European and ethnic minority views on new Hmong refugees. The research looked at how the recently arrived Hmong refugees from Thailand will socially and economically affect the non-White and White populations in Minnesota.
