Professional Biography
Dr. Rosemary M. Nabadda is a medical doctor with 22 years of clinical experience and 6 years as a Trainer of Trainers for Peer Educators in communication skills in Reproductive Health and Development. Dr Nabadda has also supplemented her experience in medicine with numerous training programmes in comprehensive HIV/AIDS care.
Currently is working as the Director of Health Services at Kyambogo University. As a coordinator of the peer Education program at Kyambogo University, Dr Nabadda has worked closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports. She has been involved in community initiatives; including integration of Voluntary Counseling & Testing (VCT) and Ante-Retroviral(ART) Services within the existing health services. She has advocated for the holistic approach in addressing HIV/AIDS issues by recommending inclusion of HIV/AIDS information in all university events/functions and content in academic programs. As trainer, Dr Nabadda conducts lectures on part time basis at Kyambogo University. She integrates her knowledge about HIV/IDS care into development studies, a course which is offered by in-service and pre-service teachers in the faculty of education.
Research Interests & Current Projects
Dr. Nabadda has led research on HIV/AIDS related factors that affect delivery of quality Education in primary schools in Uganda. The research was sponsored by Save the Children, Uganda. Her current area of research is on establishing and strengthening HIV/AIDS interventions targeting young women in Institutions of Higher Learning. Furthermore, Dr Nabadda has edited manuals for both teachers and tutors on facts and tips in handling growing up and sexual maturation. These manuals have already transformed the approach to sexual reproductive health issues in primary schools in Uganda.
