Professional Biography

Dr. Morisky is the Director of th Masters of Public Health program for Health Professionals at the Department of Community Health Sciences at UCLA. In 2007, he was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Taipei Medical University in Taiwan. Prior to that, he worked at the College of Public Health as a visiting profesor in the International Helath Program at Yang Ming University. Dr. Morisky is currently a UCLA Campus Representative and on the executive committee of the Pacific Rim Research Program. He is currently also the director of the AIDS Training Program in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at UCLA. Early in his career, Dr. Morisky was a senior reseacrh associate at the Johns Hopkins' Health Services Research and Development Center and a clinical instructor at the School of Public Health at the University of Hawaii.

Dr. Morisky is a recipient to many honors, most rcently the Elizabeth Fries Prize for Excellence in Health Education in 2006. In 2005, he was awarded the Program Excellence Award by the Society of Public Health Education for "A Model HIV Prevention Program in the Philippines: 1994-2003". Dr. Morisky was named Distinguished Fellow by the Society of Public Health Education in 2004 and the American Academy of Health Behavior in 2003. Early in his career, he was awarded the Early Career Award by the American Public Health Association, the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society, and the John E. Hume Award for Significant Achievement in Doctoral Research at Johns Hopkins University.
