Professional Biography
Dr. Gunzenhauser is a philosopher of education and qualitative research methodologist. He has published on issues related to social justice in education, the foundations of research, and school reform. Before coming to Pitt in 2004, he was an assistant professor at Oklahoma State University. He earned his PhD in Social Foundations of Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999.
Research Interests & Current Projects
His research focuses on issues of social justice in education and research, and in particular how ethical practices may inform critical projects and promote resistance to normalization. He is most interested in the study of ethics, epistemology, social theory, and their intersection in the work of feminists, critical theorists, and post-structuralists. He is currently affiliated with the Women's Studies Program and the Intercultural House. Most recently, he has consulted with the Oklahoma A+ Schools Program in 2006.
