Anis Sundusiyah

Anis Sundusiyah is a Project Coordinator in charge of co-hosting the Language Policies in Education Working Group..She is responsible for managing tasks and projects related to language in international global-local contexts.

She has been with IISE since 2011, undertaking multiple roles, including IISE's associate for the Consortium of Indonesian Universities-Pittsburgh and a translator for IISE's Excellence in Higher Education Journal. In 2019, she was the support person for IISE's partnerships and marketing efforts, responsible for content creation across IISE marketing channels, including the website and social media platforms.

Anis was a Faculty Member at Walisongo University, a State-funded Islamic University in Indonesia, from 2004 to 2021, where she taught applied linguistics, language pedagogy, and research courses in the English Language Teaching Department. Currently, she is affiliated with a PK-8 private school in Pittsburgh as an Instructional Coordinator, assisting the principal and teachers on curriculum and professional development matters.

Anis earned her PhD in Educational Leadership from the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh. Her dissertation research, entitled Language Policy Rationales, Appropriation, and Debates, examined educational language policy in Indonesia as reflected in English-mediated instruction practices in international schools.

She has received multiple awards and scholarships, including Fulbright, AICEF, Pitt Asian Center, SoE Alumni, and fellowships from Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Anis has diverse experiences in teaching, research, and leadership in both university and K-12 settings. Her research interests encompass language policy and planning, international education, global English, applied linguistics, TESOL, qualitative methods, and interpretive policy analysis.
