IISE established an Awards Committee in 2010 and placed a rolling Call for Nominations to honor outstanding research, scholarship, and/or practice for individuals whose work focuses on comparative, international, and development education (CIDE) issues. Nominations are received for one of the following award categories: (1) Best Article, (2) Best Dissertation, and (3) Lifetime Contribution.

All publication submissions (Best Article and Best Dissertation) must provide a unique contribution to developing CIDE scholarship and show originality and rigor. Award selections for publication submissions will focus on the criteria of breadth, relevance, and scholarship. Specifically, selection is based on the following five criteria: (1) significance of theoretical framework; (2) degree of sophistication or innovation of methodology used; (3) soundness of data collection and analysis; (4) social utility and implication for policy; and (5) degree to which problems of CIDE from an international, intercultural, or comparative perceptive are addressed.
